 A 10-minute single screen projection piece in which a sequence of 50 still images builds a multiple narrative played out in domestic interiors which are juxtaposed with atmospheric location shots. Shot in the studio with a small group of non-professional actors and in locations in East London, the images are accompanied by a voiced reading of a text is adapted from the writings of Tennessee Williams. The images and text together allude to darkly intimate scenes which hint the charged interplay between the characters pictured subjects in which desire, control and individual dissolution is figured . Short Story Piece also to other mid-century American authors including Raymond Carver and Carson McCullers, who share a concern with dysfunctional familial relationships in an alienated social landscape.
