STUDY

20 minutes live performance work with minimal score

Duration of documentation 5’47” . Duration of performance 20”.

Performance first commissioned by Whitechapel Art Gallery and subsequently at Spike Island, transferred aspects of a film/photography shoot to the live context of the gallery. Study drew on my own process of production in the studio, with models performing as if to camera.

This new performance originally commissioned by Whitechapel Art Gallery and subsequently by Spike Island (both 2012), transfers aspects of a film/photography shoot to the live context of the gallery. The performance draws on my own process of production in the studio, and on a repertoire of images familiar from the history of portrait photography and cinema stills. The initial performances bore some relation to Twenty Second Hold, witnessing actor/ models preparing and enacting a series of still scenarios.
